Cardiovascular Implant Design

It was required to develop a cardiovascular medical device to be implanted via catheter to patients requiring intervention. I worked on a highly skilled, cross functional team to develop this product. I contributed directly to the design of the metallic frame supporting the device itself. My design input resulted in a durable, biocompatible and safe solution.

Pegasus Structural Dynamics

The Pegasus rocket, when dropped from the belly of an L-1011 airplane, experiences sudden dynamic loading that must be understood in order to insure the survival of the payload as well as the rest of the components of the vehicle. I performed structural dynamic analysis on several Pegasus flights, taking into account the bending mode frequencies, the mass, and the mechanical attachment of all components. The results of this analysis feed all the numerous stress and deflection analyses that must be carried out on the entire vehicle.

Viper IIIA Rocket Stability

The vehicle required additional stability to achieve desired apogee and flight characteristics. Previous attempts to do so with increased surface area in the tail structure were unsuccessful. I designed a modification in the nosecone which resulted in a compact, efficient assembly of components that stabilized the vehicle. The result was a simple, creative solution that required very few new parts or new assembly techniques.
